Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch ‘Tintin’ (SOLD)
Introduced at BaselWorld 2013, the Omega Speedmaster Tintin (Ref. 322.214.171.124.01.004) is one of Omega’s most unique Moonwatches to date. Originally intended as a collaboration piece with the family of Tintin creator, Hergé, to celebrate the much-loved cartoon and comic strip, this colourful Speedmaster boasts an unmistakable red and white racing motif around its dial; a homage to the chequered rocket Tintin famously used to visit the moon. Another feature that sets this apart from your usual Speedmaster Pro is the distinct red lettering on the case back – a delightful design touch.
Not the best selling watch upon release, Omega stopped production of the Tintin after only two years. But since then, with limited examples in circulation, the Tintin is slowly becoming a very hot collector’s piece with a healthily appreciating investment value.
The watch is in superb condition over all, with no dents or scratches. The glass is clean and the bracelet is strong. The watch has had only one previous owner, who saved this for investment rather than a regular wearer.
